Welcome

Winter is almost here and so is a great set of shows. I have just finished two nights working with the exciting Toronto-based trumpeter Mike Field and now have a couple more things to look forward to. On Tuesday, November 29th my school (KVR Middle) has it's winter concert and then I have a pair of shows to play the Musaic concert choir from Summerland.

The Latest

Mike Field

Just finished two nights with Mike Field and the rhythm section from Offramp.  Mike Field is an energetic performer and great guy to work and hang out with. Super fun group to play with on some very catchy and enjoyable tunes by Mike Field! Now for my school's winter concert on Tuesday, November 29th.

Spring is coming

Just off of a couple of great local shows playing with Larry Crawford at Jazz Vespers and the Thursday Night Jazz Band at the Barking Parrot. I am looking forward to some great shows coming up in April. On Thursday April 7th Offramp will be playing at the Cleland Theatre as part of the Penticton Community Concert Series. This promises to be an energetic and fun-filled show. On Friday, April 15th I will be playing lead alto with the BC Interior Jazz Festival feature big band...it's a great line up and is sure to provide some exciting music.

Summer is here

Summer is here and the warm weather invites people into outdoor venues. I am looking forward to kicking off July with Offramp at the July 1st celebrations at the Penticton Band Shell (6-8pm). And while you're on the internet check out some tunes from local singer/songwriter Bruce MacDonald. I got to play on a couple tracks when he recorded over the winter: Viva la Revolution and Hey Girl.

Groove Engine at JDRF Fundraiser

Last night Groove Engine played for an enthusiastic audience at the Capri Coast Hotel in Kelowna. The band sounded killer and check out the jackets Brian made for us...totally groovy.

Random Act

Had a great time time with Rann Berry and the Random Act for the opening of the Kelowna Yacht Club's new building. Great crowd of dancer to the very end.

Jazz Vespers

Had a great afternoon playing with the jazz vespers gang! The new tunes proved to be good fun to play on and sounded great! Thanks to St. Saviours for putting on a great event, to Larry for inviting me to play and to the musicians for everything they do to make the music come alive. Below is Justin Glibbery, Larry Crawford, Stefan Bienz, Mike Treadway and myself at St. Saviours Anglican Church.

Jazz Vespers to feature new music

I have been going through the material that Larry Crawford has sent for the upcoming Jazz Vespers and am excited to see that there are at least two brand new compositions and three originals on the show (two of Larry's and one of mine). I am not privy to all of the tunes, but am excited to debut some new music amongst some tried and true great ones.

Pentastic Jazz Festival

Just off a great couple of days at the Pentastic Jazz Festival with some wonderful players. Craig Thomsen, Bernie Addington, Scott Gamble and Will Schlackl (all faculty from the OSA summer jazz program "Jazzcool") really put a lot into their playing and the music was an energetic romp through some pretty great standards. Check out this video of the group playing this summer at the Elite restaurant in Penticton. The tune is "May I", one of my originals.
